PYWORTHY school children donned their Wellington boots and garden forks last week, as part of a tree planting event.

A variety of Birch, Cheery Elder, Hawthorne and Hazel trees were donated by The Woodland Trust and planted at Carn Brae, Pyworthy, by Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children.

The tree planting is the start of the school's Diamond Jubilee celebrations and are just some of the six million trees that will be planted to mark the occasion.

After the tree planting, the children, staff and parent helpers enjoyed cream trees provided by the Chandler family. Each child was also presented with a 'thank you' card from the Woodland Trust.
