PROPOSALS for changes to the rules around street parking in the centre of Holsworthy have been put out to consultation.
Devon County Council have unveiled their proposals to change the parking regime at The Square.
The proposals if implemented would see the restrictions at The Square changed in order to primarily facilitate the fact the market is no longer held on Wednesdays.
It would change it from the current no waiting between midnight and 6pm on Wednesdays to a limited waiting which will permit a maximum of one hours parking between 8am and 6pm, with no return permitted for an hour afterwards.
A part of The Square will have a no waiting at any time restriction introduced.
In the amendment order, it was stated: “The restrictions are being proposed to resolve minor local issues that have been reported to the council and considered as part of the Torridge Highways and Traffic Orders Committee local waiting restrictions programme. Specific details of what is proposed at each location can be found within the deposit documents.
“The restrictions are being proposed to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road or for preventing the likelihood of any danger arising by facilitating the passage on the road of any class of traffic, including pedestrians and to preserve or improve the amenities of the area through which the road uses.”
Cllr Nigel Kenneally, the Torridge District Council member for Milton and Tamarside, encouraged residents to take part in the consultation, stating: “If you have any objections please put them in writing to Director of Democratic and Legal services. County Hall, Topsham Road, Exeter EX2 4QD using reference imr/DEV001/1629 website reference 6309.
“You will be able to view them online at www.devon.cc/alwrp Representations will need to be received by the June 12, 2026.”
