AN ‘Act of Remembrance’ was held in Holsworthy Square at 11am on Saturday, November 11, led by the new priest-in-charge of the Holsworthy Benefice, Rev Elizabeth Burke.

During the service Rev Burke also blessed the newly installed benches that are sited around the pump in the town’s Square.

The following day, on Sunday, November 12, the annual Remembrance parade passed through Holsworthy ahead of the wreath laying service.

Among the standard bearers were the local Guides, Brownies and Scouts groups, the Holsworthy branch of the Army Cadet Force and the Royal British Legion.

The procession was led by Holsworthy Town Band and Lt Jim Harvey, detachment commander of the Holsworthy Army Cadet Force.

The processions culminated in the grounds of St Peter and St Paul Church where wreaths were laid at the war memorial and a minute’s silence was observed.
