‘GOOD progress’ is being made towards a temporary home for a banking hub in Launceston.

Following the closure of the town’s banks, Cash Access UK has been moving forward with plans to introduce a hub within the town which will facilitate local banking needs.

In June 2025, NatWest - the town’s last bank - announced that it planned to close it’s Launceston branch, however, this could only be done following the opening of a banking hub. Now, several months on, Cash Access UK has announced that it is making ‘good progress’ in its efforts to open a temporary hub within the Gateway Centre.

The site will serve as the amenity’s temporary home. A spokesperson from Cash Access UK explained: “We're pleased to confirm that we're making good progress on bringing a banking hub to Launceston. We plan to initially open the banking hub in a temporary home at the Gateway Centre while we continue to work to secure a permanent home for the hub.

“Customers of all major banks will be able to visit any weekday for their everyday cash and banking transactions. Additionally, the hub will also offer a community banker service where customers can talk to their own bank in a private space about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub.”

Following the news, the team at the town’s Post Office have also reassured residents that the service is on its way.

A spokesperson said: “After passing the Post Office interview process in December and being appointed as the operators of the new banking hub coming to Launceston.

“It's incredibly exciting news and we're proud to be able to share what limited information we have at the moment and would like to thank everyone for their patience and look forward to seeing everyone in Launceston Post Office in the mean time for your banking needs.”
