IT was a grey, drizzly start to the day on Sunday, August 21, but this did not deter 76 tractors gathering at Bradworthy Square, in the morning, to take part in Bradworthy Young Farmer’s Club annual charity tractor run.

As with previous years, this run was held to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Participants came from near and far — with one tractor travelling all the way from Chagford to take part in the event.

The tractors left in convoy from the Square heading towards Pancrasweek, then on towards Derril, with a half way stop on Affaland Moor.

This should have been an opportunity to take in the stunning scenery but the drizzle and mist put paid to this.

After the short stop, the route continued though Clawton, on towards Anvil Corner and Woodacott before finishing at ‘Lizzy’s Larder & Blackberry Farm Shop’, Milton Damerel, by kind permission of the Kirby family.

A barbecue, complemented by salads and desserts, made by members of Bradworthy YFC, was provided for all who took part in the event. Lizzy’s Larder kindly donated the burgers for the barbecue.

A spokesman for the event said: “We hope everyone who attended enjoyed themselves and will participate in next year’s tractor run. A total of £1,316.15 was raised from the event for Cancer Research UK.”

Thanks were expressed to everyone who participated and who helped to make the event a success.
