A NEWQUAY artist’s award-winning artwork is being screened to a global audience alongside some of arts biggest icons.
Diane Griffiths’s painting Driving Home, which features the Texaco filling station at the Gannel, is now available globally on any Hisense TV compatible with the VIDAA platform.

She is among 20 amateur artists being showcased alongside legends like Van Gogh and Monet as part of a new collection on display in homes from the UK to Australia, Germany, Singapore and beyond to illustrate how technology can bring art into everyday living.
Hisense and VIDAA Artwork launched a UK-wide competition to decide which artists made the cut, which was judged by Kate Bryan, a familiar face for art fans through her role as judge for Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year. The competition was open to all, students, professionals and weekend painters alike.
Diane said: “It's wonderful to see Driving Home reaching a completely new audience through Hisense and VIDAA. The painting was inspired by an ordinary petrol station here in Newquay, a place I've passed countless times, but which looks completely different after dark. That's really what my paintings are about, finding unexpected beauty in familiar places.
“To think that this little corner of Cornwall can now appear on television screens in homes around the world is quite extraordinary, and I'm delighted to be one of the 20 artists selected.”
The winning artworks have been professionally graded in Dolby Vision and added to the exclusive VIDAA Art collection, available for VIDAA users everywhere.
Any TV running the VIDAA operating system can show the collection, but the most authentic, gallery-like experience can be found on the Hisense Canvas TV, a 4K QLED television designed to look like framed artwork.
Rob Andrews from Hisense UK said: “Want to see the best of the next generation of British artists? Just switch on your Hisense TV and navigate to the VIDAA art section. In addition to Diane’s art, all 20 pieces are now available in an exclusive collection, side by side with masterpieces from some of the greatest artists in history.
“We’re thrilled to bring homegrown UK talent to a global audience, giving these artists a fantastic new platform alongside the likes of Monet and Van Gogh. The standard of work submitted was exceptional, and it looks stunning on Canvas TV.
“We can’t wait for our customers to enjoy historic masterpieces and homegrown talent side by side, all from the comfort of their living room.”
Diane, who is a member of Newquay Society of Artists, previously won the People’s Choice Award in The British Art Prize, Artists & Illustrators Magazine 2024 competition for her Driving Home painting. She was awarded first prize following a public vote.
