DRIVERS could soon be adding up to 30 miles onto their journey thanks to upcoming roadworks.
From July 30 until August 2, plans have been made to carry out improvements along the B3254 near Bridgerule. Devon County Council has applied to close a stretch of the road, just west of the village from Jewells Cross to Little Bridge Cross, between 7pm and 6am as it undertakes surface dressing works on the carriageway.
As it stands an application has been submitted for the works, with Provisional Advance Authorisation (PAA) having been granted, though adjustments could be made to the works.
Under current plans, late night drivers could see nearly an hour added to their journey times thanks to a hefty diversion.
The route sees motorists taken along the length of the B3254 towards Launceston, before being redirected along the A388, past St Giles on the Heath and onto Holsworthy, with vehicles finally being routed down the A3072 before turning left and heading onto Borough Cross.
The council has expressed that outside of these hours, the road will be open as normal.
