LAUNCESTON firefighters are swapping burning buildings for messy motors as they use their hoses to clean up some of the town’s grubbiest vehicles to raise money for charity.
Each year, the crew at Launceston Community Fire Station come together to give some of the town’s cars a much-needed clean, all while raising vital funds for a good cause. This year looks to be no different, with the team announcing that it will once again be hosting the charitable event in aid of The Fire Fighters’ Charity.
While a date has not yet been set for the occasion, residents have been told to save their pennies and come along to see their vehicles sparkle. With washes available to all who provide a minimum £5 donation.
However, this year, the crew are doing even more in an effort to thank the community for its continued support. Every £5 donation will secure residents a raffle ticket, giving them chance to win a prize at the end of the day!
The crew has also put out a call to local businesses to show their support by helping donate to the prize selection.
A spokesperson from the station said: “If you are a local business, restaurant, shop or service provider and would be willing to donate a prize or voucher, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.
“Your generosity will help us raise even more for charity, be promoted on the day and on our social media, and show your support for your local fire station and community.”
Those looking to offer their support are asked to contact the crew via the station’s social media channels.
The spokesperson concluded: “Come along, support your local fire station, and leave with a sparkling clean car and keep an eye out for the confirmed date.”
