MORE than 500 properties are without power due to an ongoing issue in Launceston.

Residents have reported intermittent power throughout the morning (August 19) as a result of a fault on the town’s grid. National Grid, the organisation responsible for the country’s power network, has detailed that at around 7.31am, 1,697 properties were left without power, though this figure has fluctuated over time.

The organisation has pinpointed that the issue is due to ‘a fault on the high voltage power lines’, within the area.

A spokesperson from National Grid said: “We know you’re without power. We were alerted at 7.14am this morning and our engineers are working to get your electricity back on as quickly as possible. We're sorry for the disruption.

“We give you our best estimate for when your power will be back on, based on what we know at the time. Times might change if we face unexpected challenges getting to the fault. These times show when the last person in the area will have power back - most of you will be reconnected before this.”

The organisation has expressed engineers are on the way and that it hopes to get power restored soon.
