ALTHOUGH the days are growing shorter and the nights are drawing in as autumn makes way for winter, one of Holsworthy’s biggest annual events is ready to brighten the darkness with a burst of colour.
This year’s event blends the familiar with the potentially unexpected — and we’ve got all you need to know.
The carnival classes will remain the same as last year, with categories across royalty, children’s, and adult entries. The Royalty Classes include Best Royal Tableau (R1) and Best Royal Car (R2).
The Children’s Classes feature Individual Under 16 Years (Walking) (C1), Groups Under 16 Years (Walking) (C2), and Children’s Tableau/Float (C3).
Meanwhile, the Adult Classes cover a range of entries: Artistic Tableau/Float (A1), Young Farmers Club (A2), Adults Individual or Group (Walking) (A3), Decorated Wheeled Vehicle (Not Motorised) (A4), Commercial Vehicles/Tractors (A5), Vintage, including vintage tractors (A6), and Show Cars and Motor Bikes (A7).
A spokesperson for Holsworthy Carnival said: “We’d like to give a special thanks to our wonderful food vendors this year, who help raise money for future carnivals.
“Don’t forget to visit the official Carnival merchandise stall in The Square, where you can pick up glowsticks and more — every penny raised goes directly towards supporting next year’s carnival. Please note that purchases from other vendors who may be present are not affiliated with Holsworthy Carnival and do not contribute to its fundraising.”
There are also plans for another carnival after-party to be held at the town’s Memorial Hall. The organisers are set to confirm more details imminently but have confirmed the event is going ahead.
