A care home in Holsworthy has announced they have had a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Deer Park Care Home posted a statement on Saturday, April 11 to inform the public that the virus had been confirmed within the home.

General manager of the home, Rachel Sharick released the following statement on behalf of the care home. It said: “We would like to assure our local community that we are working very closely with all relevant Government bodies to ensure protocols are followed in order to protect our resident’s and staff’s health and wellbeing.

“Staff have been informed as per the Public Health guidelines and the management team are working hard to ensure a continuous supply of personal protective equipment and hand sanitiser. All staff are complying to the guidelines on wearing this as per the current Government advice.

“We still have in force our ‘no visitors’ policy until further notice — please respect this.”

To ensure residents and families can stay connected, the home have purchased devices that can enable Skye and WhatsApp calls into the home. They are also regularly updating their Facebook page with photos and information.

Mrs Shadrick added: “Thank you to our community your co-operation and support during this time.”
