MURDER
DARRELL ROWLAND, 49, of Trevarthian Road, St Austell has been sent to Truro Crown Court in custody charged with murdering Ian Davis at Lockington House, 17 Baytree Hill, Liskeard on 13 September.

SEX OFFENCES
MARK TALLING, 62, of Chapmans Way, St Austell was found guilty at Truro Crown Court of raping a woman at St Austell in 2018. He was sentenced to eight years and six months in prison.
JACK MILLS, 21, of Longbarn Cottages, Ellbridge Lane, Hatt pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to attempting to rape and sexually assaulting a woman at Saltash in 2023. His case was adjourned until 2 December and he was released on conditional bail not to contact his alleged victim.
JESSE ALDRIDGE, 36, of Daisy Court, Tavistock changed his plea to guilty when he appeared at Truro Crown Court charged with numerous sexual assaults including one on a girl aged seven. He will be sentenced on 30 October.
SARAH CRIDGE, 29, of Breage, Helston changed her plea to guilty on a charge of sharing a photograph of a man in an intimate state without his consent. She was ordered to pay him £500 compensation and fined £120.
ANDREW LOVERIDGE, 52, of Cryben, Gweek pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the sex offenders register by supplying police with false information ie a false date of a change of address at Truro on 20 March, by not notifying police of his address or informing them that he had a new bank card and fraud by false representation by failing to provide relevant disclosures when obtaining car insurance. He was remanded in custody and his case listed for 13 October.
THOMAS DINHAM, 18, of Gurnards House, Back Lane West, Redruth has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with breaching a sexual harm prevention order by installing a virtual private network and failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders register. On 14 August at Elliot House Hotel, Liskeard, he is alleged to have failed to notify police of his change of address and on 4 September at Gurnards House, Redruth he is charged with the same offence. His case was listed for 30 October.
KARL BALDING, 23, of Lafrowda Close, St Just changed his plea to guilty at Truro Crown Court on a charge of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child by encouraging her to send indecent photographs. He used an online decoy purporting to be a doctor and dentist to illicit the photographs. He was given a community order and must have 12 months treatment for his mental health and do 180 hours unpaid work. He was made subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order restricting his contact with children and his use of the internet and representing himself as holding any professional qualification that he does not hold including a medical professional, therapist, teacher, photographer or police officer.
STUART ROGERS, 53, of Penbrea Road, Penzance pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to possessing 10 extreme pornographic images of a person performing intercourse with a dog, making 185 category A, 172 category B and 219 category C indecent photographs of a child in 2023. He denied distributing two category A, four category B and six category C indecent images of a child between 2023 and 2025. He will be sentenced on 5 November.
STEPHEN BYFIELD, 73, of High Mountains, Church Street, Newlyn pleaded guilty to making 49 category B and 36 category C indecent images of a child in April 2025 and possessing 31 prohibited images of a child. His case was adjourned until 28 October.
COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR
MICHAEL GUARD, 64, of Prospect Place, Mevagissey changed his plea to guilty at Truro Crown Court on a charge of engaging in coercive behaviour linked to financial, emotional and physical control of his victim. He was given a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years, ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work and made subject to a restraining not to contact his victim or go to an area of St Austell until 29 September 2036. A charge of assaulting his victim occasioning her actual bodily harm, which he had denied, will remain on file.
ARSON
LOGAN SMITH, 24, of Travelodge, Wadebridge pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to, on 2 February at the Travelodge, arson by damaging property by fire, being reckless as to whether the life of another would be endangered and possessing two knives in a public place. He was remanded in custody and his case adjourned until 2 December.
JACK WILLIAMS, 40, of Lower Green Street, Newlyn has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with arson by damaging by fire the Phoenix Café at Warrens and Son at St Just in May 2025. His case was listed for 30 October and he was released on conditional bail not to contact a man and a woman or enter the Phoenix Café.
ROBBERY
CHRISTOPHER PEARCE, 37, of Cosgarne Hall, St Austell, MICHAEL STRINGER, 37, of NFA, St Austell, KIERAN LEVERETT, 42, of Blowing House Close, St Austell and ASHLEY PEARCE, 36, of West End Court, Redruth have been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with robbing a man of £600 cash and a driving licence at St Austell on 27 September. They were released on conditional bail and their case listed for 30 October. Pearce and Leverett were put on a daily 8pm to 6am curfew to remain at their homes, Stringer and Pearce were put on a 11pm to 6am daily curfew banning them from being in a public place during that time. The defendants must not contact each other or their alleged victim.
In a later court appearance STRINGER faced new charges. At Holy Trinity Church, St Austell on 29 September, he used or threatened violence towards another and, on 30 September, be breached his curfew not to be in a public place between 11pm and 6am. He was remanded in custody.
ASSAULT
SUNNY THOMPSON, 31, of Carvynick Holiday Park, Summercourt pleaded not guilty to assaulting a man at Falmouth on 4 April and, on the same day, to being involved in a road accident when a person was injured which he failed to report. His case was adjourned until 2 November and he was released on conditional bail not to contact his alleged victim.
THOMAS VIGUS-GIBBS, 34, of Chi Teyrdelen, Stret dor Wartha, Newquay has been sent to Truro Crown Court in custody charged with assaulting a man occasioning him actual bodily harm and burgling his property when he threatened the occupant with violence and stole a pair of trainers at Wadebridge on 16 February. He also faces a charge of breaching his bail conditions at Wadebridge on 27 September when he intimidated a witness/juror intending to pervert the course of justice. His case listed for 3 November.
JAMIE SEDGMAN, 41, of Roche Road, Bugle pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a man at Truro on 15 September and to breaching a criminal behaviour order by making threats and intimidating a person. He was remanded in custody and sentence adjourned.
TOMMY EASTWOOD, 21, and DANNY EASTWOOD, 29, of Wesley Place, St Dennis pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a man occasioning him actual bodily harm and damaging a door and window at a property in Launceston on 23 June. They will stand trial on 7 June.
KIERAN POLLER, 27, of Chy Pons, St Austell pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer by biting him at East Hill, St Austell on 27 April. He was given a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and has to pay £1000 compensation. The court heard the officer will be scarred for life from the injury.
JONATHAN CONGDON, 23, of Poldhu Road, Liskeard pleaded guilty to assaulting a man at Saltash on New Year’s Eve occasioning him actual bodily harm and assaulting another man at Saltash on 23 January. He was given an 52-week prison sentence, with magistrates noting his first victim was a vulnerable youth; his previous convictions, he was in drink and they were unprovoked attacks. The sentence was suspended for 18 months and he has to pay his first victim £2990 compensation and his second victim £1680 compensation. He was made subject to an exclusion order not to go to The Brunel Inn, The Ploughboy, The Cecil Arms, The Union Inn, The Moon Rodney, The Railway, The Two Bridges, Saltash Social Club, Foreign Muck, Bandits, The Cockleshell and Saltash Sailing Club for 12 months.
KIERAN PEDLAR, 38, of Rhind Street, Bodmin was found guilty in his absence of assaulting a woman at Rhind Street, Bodmin in April 2025. He will be sentenced on 14 October and was given bail with conditions not to enter St Leonards between Dunmere Road to Higher Bore Street or contact his victim.
GEORGE PALMER, 21, of Church Road, Tideford changed his plea to guilty on a charge of assaulting a man at Looe on 12 July last year. He was fined £623 and ordered to pay £200 compensation.
MARCO CARTA, 37, of NFA, Saltash who had pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman at Hodge Close, Saltash on 5 May and criminal damage on 7 May has had the cases discontinued.
MARK CLARIDGE, 47, of Woodlands View, Looe has been given a 12-month conditional discharge after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a man at Looe on Boxing Day last year.
DAVID STIMPSON, 56, of Race Hill Terrace, Southgate Street, Launceston pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman at Boots, Broad Street, Launceston on 11 September. He was given a conditional charge for six months and ordered to pay his victim £100 compensation.
STEFFAN HARRIES, 32, of Trewen, Launceston pleaded guilty to assaulting a man occasioning him actual bodily harm at Fountain Inn, Laugharne in July last year. He will be sentenced on 11 December.
JESSICA WALTERS, 34, of Blackthorn Close, Launceston pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer at Launceston on 1 August by beating her and failing to provide police with a specimen of breath for analysis when being investigated for a traffic offence. She was given a conditional discharge for two years and banned from driving for 17 months which will be reduced by 17 weeks if she completes a course and has to pay the officer £300 compensation.
SINJAR ZUREL, 27, of Scobles Terrace, Malpas pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a man occasioning him actual bodily harm, possessing a long kebab knife in a public place and wounding two men with intent to do grievous bodily harm at Calenick Street, Truro on 24 August. He was remanded in custody and his case adjourned.

INTIMIDATED WITNESS
PETER KELLY, 48, of Trevanion Road, St Austell pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to, on 22 May, intimidating a witness in proceedings for an offence by making threats towards her if she failed to withdraw her statement intending to cause the course of justice to be obstructed, to assaulting her occasioning actual bodily harm on 24 April, assaulting her on 9 May and to possessing a kitchen knife on Penwinnick Road, St Austell on 8 May. He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 29 October.
He pleaded not guilty to assaulting and strangling her at St Austell on 23 April; not guilty to assaulting her between 20 March and 7 April and on 8 May; not guilty to threatening to kill her on 22 May; not guilty to coercive behaviour by using and threatening violence and checking her location and not guilty to intending to pervert the course of justice – these counts will remain on file.
MENACING MESSAGE
DANIEL TAYLOR, 42, of Pearl Court, Quintrell Downs pleaded guilty to, between 31 August and 25 September at Newquay, stalking a woman by bombarding her with calls and messages and by attending her address to monitor who was in the property; to sending an electronic message referring to a gun and bullets that was of a menacing character and to assaulting a police officer on 26 September. He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 13 October.
VIOLENT OFFENDER ORDER
SIMON TAILBY, 52, of High Lanes, Hayle has been made subject to a two-year violent offender order despite his opposition. Magistrates granted the order on 28 September. It states he must inform police where he is living, the details of any vehicle he is using and of any developing personal relationship with a woman even if the relationship has not become intimate – it includes women whom he is renewing a relationship with. It also places restrictions on his use of mobile phones and any device capable of accessing the internet. Bodmin magistrates found that Tailby had acted in a manner which caused authorities to believe he poses a risk of violent harm to the public. His behaviour towards female prison officers was highlighted as was an assault on a woman he had been in a relationship with which he had initially denied.
STALKING
SABBIR AHMED, 25, of Chapel Street, St Ives pleaded not guilty to stalking a woman at St Austell between November and February. He is alleged to have made unwanted contact via social media using various account names to try and contact her, threatened to attend her home, bought her unwanted gifts and monitored her on social media. His case was adjourned until 8 April and he was released on conditional bail not to contact three people or enter St Austell.
DRUG CRIME
MARC JACKSON, 47, of Jace Court, St Austell has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with, at St Austell on 29 September, possessing crack cocaine and cocaine with intent to supply; on 16 August possessing cannabis, cocaine and crack cocaine with intent to supply and, on 23 May at St Austell, possessing cannabis, crack cocaine and cocaine with intent to supply. He was remanded in custody and his case listed for 3 November. He has also been charged with driving whilst disqualified on 29 September and failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis.
THOMAS WARE, 36, of Primary Road, Dobwalls has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with possessing 35.97 grams of crack cocaine with intent to supply at St Austell on 17 September. His case was listed for 30 October.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
JORDAN MATTHEWS of Lockington House, Baytree Hill, Liskeard was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection notice on 30 September not to contact or threaten a woman.
RACIALLY AGGRAVATED
MATTHEW BAKER, 42, of West Lane, Landrake pleaded guilty to using racially aggravated behaviour towards a man at Saltash in August 2025. He was ordered to do 84 hours unpaid work and pay £200 compensation.
THREATENING BEHAVIOUR
BEN THOMPSON, 41, of High Cross Street, St Austell pleaded not guilty to using threatening behaviour towards two police officers at St Austell on 5 May. He will stand trial on 21 December.
HANDLED STOLEN GOODS
DANIEL KNIGHT, 33, of Daniels Lane, St Austell pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to handling stolen goods, namely a gift card and documents and possessing two bottles of methadone at Newquay in October 2023. He will be sentenced on 30 October. He pleaded not guilty to burgling a caravan at Penvose Caravan Park and stealing cash, a radio, paperwork, medication, toys and a mobile phone. This was discharged.
FRAUD
ANN COLE, 36, of Chestnut Drive, Liskeard has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with fraud by false representation. It is alleged that between June 2024 and May 2025 at AC Whell Motor Repairs in Dobwalls she used the business account without permission intending to make a gain, namely ordering goods and paying for services for herself. Her case was listed for 30 October.
CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY
CALLUM BUNKUM, 21, of Thornberry House, St Ive pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to a man by driving without due care and attention on the A388 at Penpill on 28 February. He was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £1100.
MATTHEW HUTCHINGS, 43, of Butts Park, Trenewan has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with causing serious injury to two women and a man by dangerous driving and driving a Land Rover and trailer dangerously on the roundabout and connecting road from Tregoad Holiday Park, St Martin in October 2024. His case was listed for 23 October.
ANDREW DUNCAN, 59, of Halvasso, Penryn pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to causing serious injury to a woman by careless driving on the A393 at Redruth on 2 March. He pleaded not guilty to driving when the Secretary of State had revoked his licence in 2005. He was given an interim driving ban and the case adjourned until 30 October.
DANGEROUS DRIVING
JOSHUA WILKINSON, 19, of Porthia Road, St Ives pleaded guilty to driving dangerously on Stennack Road, Gabriel Street, Tregenna Hill and Dove Street, St Ives on 13 March and to failing to stop after an accident on Dove Street when he damaged another vehicle, failing to stop when required by a police officer, driving without a licence or insurance and using a vehicle without a test certificate. He was given an interim driving ban and will be sentenced on 10 November.
DRINK/DRUG DRIVE
RACHEL DICKSON, 53, of Higher Fraddon, St Columb pleaded guilty to failing to provide police with a specimen of breath for analysis on 7 September. She was banned from driving for 40 weeks and fined £1292.
STEPHEN ARTHURS, 48, of Thornton Close, Roche pleaded guilty to driving on Penwinnick Road, St Austell on 14 March with 800 micrograms of BZE per litre of blood exceeding the limit of 50. He was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £120.
MARTIN VAUGHAN, 58, of Poltair Avenue, St Austell pleaded guilty to driving at St Austell on 17 September with 82 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. He was banned from driving for 21 months which will be reduced by 21 weeks if he completes a course and fined £400.
MICHAEL HATT, 36, of Trevail Way, St Austell has been banned from driving for 19 months after pleading guilty to driving on Victoria Road, St Austell on 23 June with 76 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. He was fined £120.
DEAN HUSBAND, 50, of Bridges, Luxulyan pleaded guilty to driving at Carbean, St Austell on 31 August with 90 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. He was banned from driving for 23 months and fined £1166.
KAYODE OGUNDANA, 23, of Treningle View, Bodmin pleaded not guilty to failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis when being investigated for a traffic offence on 17 September. A trial will be held on 21 December.
DENIS O’FLYNN, 47, of Tethadene, St Teath has been banned from driving for 40 months and fined £320 after pleading guilty to failing to provide police with a specimen of blood for analysis when being investigated for a traffic offence and driving without a licence or insurance on 5 September at St Austell.
SHANNON DRYLAND, 29, of Grove Drive, Liskeard pleaded guilty to driving on Plymouth Road, Liskeard on 5 March with 3.2 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two. She was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £120.
ISAAC WHITTINGHAM-FORD, 19, of Trerose Coombe, Downderry pleaded guilty to driving at West Looe on 6 September with 94 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. He was banned from driving for 24 months and fined £920.
KIERA EVELY, 23, of Haye Road, Callington pleaded guilty to driving with 68 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath at St Mellion on 28 August exceeding the limit of 35. She was banned from driving for 18 months, which will be reduced by 18 weeks if she completes a course, and was fined £300.
VINCENZO BELLINI, 40, of Fore Street, Callington pleaded guilty to driving at Callington on 16 January with 3.1 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two. He was banned from driving for 40 months and fined £200.
CHRISTINE MATHER, 34, of Swallow Close, Bencoolen, Bude pleaded guilty to driving at Swallow Close, Bude with 59 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35 and resisting a police officer in the execution of his duty on 28 August. She was banned from driving for 16 months which will be reduced by 16 weeks if she completes a course, fined £120 and ordered to pay £100 compensation.
DOG TO BE DESTROYED
EDEN DAVIES, 21, of Oakfield, Coads Green, Launceston has been told that his German Shepherd type dog called Lulu will have to be destroyed after it was dangerously out of control when it killed a dog called Herbie at Tregaller Lane, Launceston on 21 July last year and injured two people who tried to intervene. Lulu, who has been in police kennels since the incident, continued to attack Herbie after attempts had been made to separate the dogs. Magistrates, who viewed CCTV of the incident, said they were not satisfied that the risk to public safety could be managed by a contingent destruction order or other control measures and ordered Lulu be destroyed.
CLOSURE ORDER
45 TRELANDER EAST, TRURO was made subject to a three-month closure order on 28 September under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act.
