A SHORT mat bowls club’s future has been assured thanks to the delivery of a new type of equipment.

Camelford Short Mat Bowls Club recently took delivery of a three mat Electrowind machine which will make it easier to get the mats in and out at each of the twice weekly sessions held at Otterham Village Hall. The machine supplied by Whitehead Bowls is number 301 and named Marianne.

The ‘Roll Out Roll in Easy’ project was supported by an award of £3,709.00 from Sport England covering 50 per cent of the total cost with the rest of the monies coming from club funds and a private donation.

A hoover for keeping the mats clean was also purchased using funds from Cornwall Councillor Barry Jordan’s Community Fund.

A spokesperson added: “The club’s future should now be assured but new members are always welcome to join the sessions held on a Wednesday and Friday afternoon at Otterham Village Hall.”
