FIFTY cadets, instructors, ex-cadets and special guests gathered at Holsworthy Golf Club recently, for the Holsworthy detachment of the Army Cadet Force’s (ACF) Christmas dinner and the annual awards presentations.

Cadets Ella Meradith and Sam Dagger received air rifle pass badges from Lt Col Joe Martin, deputy commandant of Devon ACF.

Corporal Harry Fackrell received the Holsworthy Town Council sponsored ‘Best NCO’ trophy from deputy mayor Cllr Collin Punter. This award is voted for by the cadets.

Lance Corporal Ben McKenzie was promoted to Corporal and cadet Joel Stokes to Lance Corporal.

Former cadet Summer received promotion to the rank of Serjeant instructor following the successful completion of her adult training during 2018.

Speaking at the event, detachment commander Lt Jim Harvey said: “The cadets and adults have worked hard to make this another successful year for Holsworthy ACF. The awards presented are well deserved and we move forward as a team ready to face whatever challenges present themselves through 2019.”
