POLICE have launched an appeal for information after a bicycle rider sustained serious injuries following a collision between Highampton and Hatherleigh.

They are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the incident on an unclassified road to ascertain whether a second vehicle was involved in the incident.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses and footage following a serious road traffic collision involving a bicycle in the Highampton area of Devon.

“The incident took place at around 11.30am on Saturday, August 9 on an unclassified road between Highampton and Hatherleigh.

“As a result of the collision the rider sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital. He remains in hospital for treatment.

“Investigating officers are looking for witnesses who saw the collision and may have witnessed if a second vehicle was involved.

“The road was closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene.

“Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed.
