On Saturday, June 29, Devon and Cornwall Police officers were called following a report of concern for welfare for a woman at an address on Cherrill Gardens, Bude, at around 1pm.
Following the report, officers, alongside paramedics, attended the address, where a 93-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police confirmed that, as a result, a 65-year-old man from the Bude area was arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken into police custody.
However, Devon and Cornwall Police have now confirmed that David Botham, 65, of Cherrill Gardens, Bude, has been charged with murder.
Following the charge, he is due to appear before Exeter Magistrates’ Court on today, Wednesday, July 2.
