AN APPEAL for information has been launched after a fatal collision in Bridgerule, near Holsworthy.

A woman in her 80’s passed away after the incident, which involved two vehicles on the B3254 during the afternoon of Friday, January 16.

The 82-year-old passenger of the Ford Fiesta passed away in hospital on Saturday, January 17 from her injuries, while the driver of the fiesta, a man in his 70s, remains in hospital in a condition described as critical but stable.

Two occupants in the Ford Focus also involved in the incident were taken to hospital with serious injuries, but are not being treated as being life changing or life threatening.

Police have invited anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to assist enquiries using reference 50260013053.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in Bridgerule, Holsworthy.

“Officers were called at around 3pm to the B3254 on Friday, January 16 following a two-vehicle collision involving a silver Ford Focus and a red Ford Fiesta.

“Sadly, the passenger of the Fiesta, an 82-year-old woman, passed away in hospital on Saturday. Her next of kin have been informed and will be supported by a specially trained officer.

“The driver of the Fiesta, aged in his 70s, remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition. His next of kin have been informed.

“The two occupants of the Focus were taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not being treated as life-threatening or life-changing.

“Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed for an investigation to take place at the scene.
