Cornwall Cricket League Division Four, Five, Six and Seven East round-up – Saturday, May 10
WERRINGTON Thirds made it two victories from two in Division Four East as they won by three wickets at St Neot.
They were in trouble at 67-5 before Richard Stanbury (41no), Matt Chatfield (25) and Matt Gilmour (21no) saw them home in pursuit of 180.
Earlier, Tom Petherick (3-42), Sam Uglow (2-40) and Ian Worsnip (2-35) made inroads.
Launceston Seconds hosted Buckland Monachorum in Division Five East and mustered just 106 all-out which Buckland passed inside 16 overs.
Danny Sloman made 38 for the hosts.
Gunnislake were beaten by 15 runs at home to Newquay Thirds despite dismissing the visitors for 143.
Paul Hollow made 71 on his debut for Gunni, but Harry Willmott’s 7-11 from nine overs proved decisive.
St Minver picked up eight points in their 59-run loss to Gorran.
Brendan Ward was expensive but did take 5-76 on his debut, before they made a decent first of the reply, eventually falling to 189 all-out.
Steve Hawke made 62 from just 46 balls while there were thirties from Matt Gilbert (39) and Ryan Brown (31).
Wadebridge Thirds’ batsmen racked up the runs at Holsworthy Seconds – posting 334-5 from their 40 overs.
Lucas Stewart and Rob Centini both struck centuries with only Adam Lovejoy (3-64) and debutant Ryan Hall (2-54) getting any reward.
The Devonians mustered 123 all-out thanks to quickfire innings from Lovejoy (48) and stand-in skipper Ben Hutchings (31).
In Division Six East, Anthony Buchanan smashed a remarkable 157 not out from number seven as Bude made it two wins from two as they eased to victory at their Ladock counterparts.
They posted 262-9 despite the next best being opener Michael Taylor’s 30 as Sam Awdry took 5-43.
Ladock never seriously threatened to reach the target but Bude could only take five wickets as they finished on 171-5. Buchanan rounded off his day - which earlier included 15 fours and ten sixes - with 3-12 from five overs.
Luckett Seconds proved too strong for St Austell Fourths in a high-scoring clash at Chapel Field.
Half centuries from openers Martin Budge (72) and Rob Piper (69) were quickly added to by Mike Clements (30) and Adrian Berry (33no) in a score of 259-6.
Gareth Clements (3-43) and Berry (2-32) shared five in a reply of 210-6.
Werrington chairman Adam Paynter enjoyed a proud moment on Saturday as he opened the batting with son Henry in their fourth team clash with Bugle.
They put on 12 together before Henry was bowled for eight, although Adam went on to make 63 in their 176-9 which Bugle reached with three wickets and nine balls to spare.
Will Conway (2-59) and dad Jeremy (2-17) shared four wickets while Ben Sonley also took 2-31.
South Petherwin Seconds were beaten by four wickets by their St Stephen counterparts at Kennards House.
Petherwin needed a dogged 32 from Sam Payne to help them reach 132 all-out after openers James Cawsey and Richard Watson both made starts.
They battled away well in the field with Emma Barnes (3-26) and Cawsey (2-15) sharing five of the six wickets to fall.
Division Seven East saw Tintagel Seconds win by ten runs at Buckland Monachorum despite being all-out for 146, while Launceston Thirds lost by seven wickets to St Neot Thirds having been dismissed for 88.
