LADIES with the top eight away averages from the Holsworthy and District Ladies Skittles League played at the Devon County Finals held near Exeter on Saturday, May 13.
Throughout the day the team played good skittles with some close encounters.
In the final against Torquay, Yvonne Denning floored 74 pins, the highest individual score of the championship as Holsworthy won 415-406.
The league individual champion Chris Andrews took part in the Singles Knockout Cup, but narrowly lost in the first-round.
A week later, Holsworthy’s A and B teams of ladies travelled to the Riviera Centre, Torquay for the Devon Open Knockout competition.
To reach the finals, members from Division One and Division Two play knockout rounds throughout the winter months against North Devon teams.
A good start from both teams meant that Holsworthy B had to take on Holsworthy A in the semi-final with the former edging through. Lorraine Powderly and Alison Nutt shared the cup for the highest individual score of 64.
The final against Barnstaple B was a very competitive affair with the lead changing with each rub, however Holsworthy B edged home by just three pins to win 387-384 and take the title.
In the individual knockout competition, Holsworthy A’s Mandy Walters did well in reaching the semi-final while the B team’s Rosemary Reed lost in the first-round.
