THE Inner Wheel Club of Camelford celebrated the 50th anniversary of its foundation recently, with a dinner at Bowood Golf Club, Camelford.
Glenys Dallow, president of the club, extended a warm welcome to the district chairman of Inner Wheel, Vanessa Hughes and her husband Mike, president of the Rotary Club of Camelford David Hodge and his wife Cathy and to all the members and guests and thanked them for taking part in the celebration of the special event.
Glenys also thanked Nigel Cobbledick and the staff of Bowood for their excellent service, both on the night and as all the meetings throughout the year.
David Flower took photographs of the event and Dennis Hardman, a longstanding member of the Rotary Club, gave a vote of thanks.
Dennis paid tribute to the Inner Wheel for all its achievements over the years since 1967 and the many charities that have been supported by them — including Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, Aqua Boxes, Children’s Hopsice South West and Age Concern to name a few.
The entertainment was provided by the Boscastle Buoys, a group of traditional and shanty singers. This went down very well and the evening was rounded off by an enthusiastic rendition of the Cornish song ‘Trelawny’.
